Abbas Awad Administrative, Programme Assistant

About Me

For more than eight years, I have worked as an Administrative Assistant in UNAMID’s Board of Inquiry (BOI) office. My responsibilities include coordinating visits from high-level officials, managing specific and programmatic requirements, and organizing official receptions. I also provide assistance to the Chief of BOI unit regarding staff capacity-building programs that help promote the performance and quality of services provided. Additionally, I support the chief BOI in managing and supervising all financial and administrative issues, including providing assistance in processing entitlements and benefits, contracts/appointment extensions, separations, and related personnel and payment actions. Lastly, I provide language assistance to the Board members while conducting interviews and translate from Arabic to English and vice versa.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Ain Shams University in Egypt, and I have had prior work experience with the UN Mine Action Office and UNAMID’s Ordnance Disposal Unit, as well as with private companies in the field of administration and information & data management (IDM). I have completed several training courses related to internal control and audit, financial management for project development, and monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, I have attended courses related to the UN’s work, such as the protection of civilians.

Working in an international environment, such as the United Nations, has equipped me with strong interpersonal skills. I am a team player and thrive when working in intercultural teams. I have a strong sense of responsibility, and during my time with UNAMID, I have proven that I can work in high-pressure environments. My planning and organizing skills are best evidenced by my work with BOI.
