Job Description

Manage, guide and provide operational and process expertise and support to the O&M Team to ensure the continuous availability of the Sewage Treatment Plant (Al Wathba 2 or Allahamah) at all times and in accordance with the O&M manuals, terms of O&M contract, policies, procedures and the Integrated Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all day-to-day O&M activities in accordance with best practice and company policy and procedures to ensure contractual compliance.
• Responsible for authorized communication to stakeholders.
• Manage wastewater, sludge, odour treatment and effluent quality in order to meet applicable legal and contractual requirements and in accordance with the Company quality assurance (QA) standard.
• Perform weekly plant visits to ensure good plant and site condition.
• Manage and execute the plant budget with final approval from Operations & Maintenance Manager and monitor expenditures.
• Manage relevant HR aspects as applicable.
• Continuously assess training and skills development needs of the O&M teams.
• Ensure the implementation of individual performance assessments.
• Control and manage the O&M team working schedule, work load and manpower.
• Ensure that all policies, procedures and duties are well understood, implemented and followed by the O&M team at all times.
• Assist/support/coach O&M team members as and when required.
• Ensure effective and good management of all sub-contractor activities on site.
• Manage and supervise any internal projects.
• Monitor supplier performance and workmanship against requirements.
• Manage spare part purchasing, management and control.
• Plan, execute and manage plant shut downs.
• Participate in meetings, recruitment interviews, safety walks, etc.
• Participate in the compulsory on-call duty schedule.
• Develop the necessary reports and tools to ensure proper organization of the teams and control of the plant.
• Perform any reasonable duty requested by the O&M Manager or management.

Qualifications

• Accredited and recognized Engineering Diploma (preferentially in chemical or environmental engineering) or equivalent
• 5 years continuous experience in wastewater treatment or similar industrial
  environment with minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google apps.
• Proficiency in Saxo
• Proficiency in the use of CMMS
• Excellent knowledge of relevant wastewater treatment plant processes and related activities and technologies (sludge, biogas, odour, reuse, etc.)
• Excellent project management.
