Overview
+ Shore Network Engineer VOIP provides support for the various systems located at the U.S. Navy’s, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Stations (NCTS). Support includes administration and maintenance of systems, use and development of standard operating procedures, lead, and coordination of troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues on supported units across multiple circuits and systems and facilities. Candidate will provide leadership and training to on-site personnel and lead/assist personnel aboard fleet units in resolving ship-to-shore networking issues. Candidate will serve as technical advisor to NCTS staff and fleet personnel related to VOIP/VOSIP operations within the area of responsibility. Top Secret (TS/SCI may be required in the future dependent on location).
Responsibilities
+ Candidate will be responsible for supporting Navy NCTS’. Conducts on site troubleshooting and maintenance assistance for problems that cross multiple systems
+ Provide local and distance support of VOIP/VOSIP phones and manage/configure CISCO Unified Call Manager (CUCM) suite of equipment
+ Provide on-site engineering and technical support for the integration of IT hardware and software upgrades
+ Provide support for maintenance of the system architecture configuration and maintain configuration management to meet the site program objectives; on-site support shall provide activity based technical and engineering support for process configuration
+ Provide recommendations for alternative courses of action to more effectively accomplish the integration of upgrades and modifications
+ Provide recommendations for improvement or alternative networking strategies
+ Assist in conducting preliminary network testing after integration and configuration of site upgrades and modifications
+ Interacting with multiple customer organizations will be required.
+ Less than 5% travel may be required.
+ Work outside of normal work week hours may be required, to participate in meetings, troubleshooting efforts, and installations or upgrades.
Qualifications
+ BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 12+ years technical experience in VOIP/VOSIP related disciplines required.
+ Certification as IAT2 (per DoD Inst 8750.1 and Navy guidance) with IA and CE (CCENT/CCNA/CCNP) certification required, CCNA-Voice and/or CCNP Collaboration highly desired. Certification in multiple operating systems highly desired. Higher level CISCO certifications highly desired.
+ Minimum TOP SECRET security clearance required, dependent on location TS/SCI may be required
+ 12 + years’ experience with DoD enterprise or Navy networks
+ 12+ years’ technical experience in VOIP/VOSIP related disciplines and equipment
+ 4+ years’ experience in CISCO VOIP and VTC/collaboration architectures including Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE)
+ Windows Server and VMWare training/certifications highly desired
