IOM Pakistan is implementing the project ‘Managing Human Mobility in the context of climate change in Pakistan,’ funded by the IOM Development Fund.
The project will seek to strengthen the capacities of Federal and Provincial Government departments to respond to the nexus of migration and climate change, bringing together key actors on climate change, urban planning, disaster management and national development for initiatives including research, capacity building and technical assistance.
The objective of this assignment is to produce a research report, through an inclusive and interactive process, in a bid to improve the availability of knowledge, data, and information on the impacts of climate change on human mobility in Pakistan. The research will focus primarily on the most significant impacts on human mobility of climate change and environmental degradation in Pakistan. The research will identify major sudden-onset and slow-onset events and processes triggered by climate change and environmental degradation in Pakistan, and present findings to discuss their impact on human mobility. The report produced by the service provider will introduce the climate profile of Pakistan and provide gender-sensitive evidence on the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation on migration patterns in various parts of the country, while also discussing the resulting social and economic impacts of climate change induced migration in those areas.
