Organizational Context and Scope: –
Established in 1951, and operational in Pakistan since 1981, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Over the years, IOM has expanded and affirmed its role as the leading Organization assisting the Government of Pakistan to ensure humane and orderly movement of people by devising practical solutions to shifting dynamics of migration, protecting, assisting and supporting vulnerable migrant populations, promoting international cooperation on migration issues and serving as a key source of advice on migration policy, research, data and practice. IOM Pakistan has also been working to contribute towards the priorities outlined in the 2021 Pakistan Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) particularly for the Afghanistan Citizen Card holders and undocumented Afghan population in Pakistan.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), in coordination with the Humanitarian, Displacement Tracking and Migration Management Teams in IOM Pakistan and relevant colleagues in Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a comprehensive desk study of prevalent and emerging mobility patterns in Pakistan with particular emphasis on ACC holders and undocumented Afghan population. This would include mapping of areas of origin, profiles, including age and sex disaggregated information, and needs of vulnerable groups.
