This post is in the Operations Section, Business Management Branch (BMB) of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO), New York. The Programme Management Officer reports directly to the Chief Global Resident Coordinator System Operations Section. The incumbent coordinates management of the Legal issues and general administration processes at UNDCO, Regional Offices as well as Resident Coordinator Offices; liaises as appropriate with other components of the organization to ensure an efficient and cohesive approach to managing legal issues and general administration processes.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, business administration, economics or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with at least two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
Experience in dealing with legal issues related to the operational activities of the United Nations, or its subsidiary organs or bodies, is desirable.
Experience in implementing change management initiatives or business transformation projects is desirable.
Experience working with United Nations common systems administrative policies and procedures is desirable.
Experience in preparing thorough and well-reasoned written outputs including background papers, analytical notes, reports etc. is desirable.
Experience within the UN Common System or other comparable international organization is desirable.
Languages
French and English are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of a second UN language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.
