This position is located in the Programme Planning and Coordination Unit of the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD) in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The Programme Management Officer reports to the Social Affairs Officer. The incumbent supports coordination of the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Division’s programme plan, budgetary and human resource administration and assists with workflow management and substantive review of the Division’s deliverables. The Division seeks to strengthen international cooperation for achieving social inclusion and the reduction of the gap of inequalities, by fostering effective policy impact and intensified global dialogue on social development issues. Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, management, economics, social science or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management,
administration or related area is required.
Experience with human resource management, budget and work plan formulation in an international
intergovernmental organization is desirable.
Experience in socioeconomic development, policy analysis or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
