Job Purpose
Delivering dedicated financial business partnering to large divisions and Group Companies by performing a leadership and advisory role on all financial matters and financial performance and being a key part of decision making. The Business Finance Manager directly supports Executive leadership through financial analysis of strategic and tactical initiatives on a proactive basis in order to facilitate decisions that directly impact the profitability of that area. The key support they provide assists the business in developing Group strategy and provides an effective business partnering and governance support to protect and enhance shareholder value.
Job Accountabilities
– Effectively lead finance teams and partner with the businesses in developing their key strategies and initiatives and proactively influence to gain the best advantage for EK Group. This includes a thorough review pre and post investment tracking. The job holder will work closely as a team member with the business, legal and cross functional support teams internally and with external stakeholders such as auditors, legal consultants, suppliers, customers, IATA forums and senior managers in the industry to meet this objective.
– Develop long and medium-term financial plans based on key drivers of the line department and their respective business plan that targets organic and in-organic growth to top line, bottom line. These are regular updated, and kept current for implementation during annual planning and budget process. Develop business domain cash flows where this is significant and influence prioritisation of cash spends on projects based on overall Entity, Group cash flow availability.
– Provide high level advice and consultancy to the business in its detailed annual planning and budget process, aligning this to the rolling three year targets whilst ensuring that cost is optimised and revenue earning opportunities enhanced. Ensure that the annual budget is implemented across the Group businesses covering every area of responsibility in line with corporate timelines and to highest quality. During the course of each Financial Year, develop a mechanism to improve monthly forecast accuracy so as to provide an outlook for the full Financial Year for large businesses and consolidating to the Entity, Group level. Drive relevant Business Performance Control mechanisms including the setup of internal and external KPIs, which are agreed with the business based on an established framework. Agree 3 year rolling targets with the Executive Leadership and benchmarking against industry best practices and trends to influence decision-makers to continually improve financial performance and productivity. Establish and deliver performance monitoring reports, with an escalation process, covering new proposals, approved projects during the implementation stage, follow up on key business decisions and their financial results, so as to ensure a proactive steer for continuous business improvement and optimisation of ROI. This includes driving businesses to focus on intelligent automation such as machine learning, AI driven and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM).
– Influence and drive sustainable profit improvement projects in agreement with the businesses and project manage these initiatives to ensure cost reduction, cost avoidance and income enhancements as appropriate resulting in driving continuous changes to enhance business ROIs and to their processes, practices. Promote green initiatives in the business and its tracking mechanism for reporting.
– Support businesses to adopt to the Corporate Governance system as per the authorities manual and assist in the development of business specific policies and procedures to ensure Governance. Develop financial awareness within the business through continuous learning sessions imparted to the key decision makers and senior managers, enriching job knowledge and business expertise in the use of financial drivers, submission of business cases using discounted cash flow techniques.
– Be a proactive and engaged member of the board of directors of local businesses to drive regulatory and statutory governance. Protect shareholder resources and enhance value through decision making in line with Group Governance Frameworks.
– Collaborate with Financial Services, Centre of Excellence teams within Finance ensuring business understand the Finance processes so as to achieve effective and efficient finance offering to businesses. Perform pre-monthly closing reviews, activities for businesses and support new Finance systems related, regulatory related changes affecting the businesses.
– Perform complex decision analysis for various strategic initiatives, to influence the key stakeholders by challenging critical assumptions where appropriate through Finance COE team (Mergers & Acquisitions), and sign up partnering with the business in post decision implementation. This includes supporting our Group Companies and JVs through the ongoing performance management activities, consolidation with EK Group Financials/reporting, establishing adequate control risk mechanisms and engaging for Board presentation.
– Ensure that the performance and development of all employees managed by the jobholder are managed in a timely and effective manner which will develop their competence, style and influencing capabilities. Support Finance Leadership in endeavours to collaborate across Finance cross functional initiatives and projects for staff development and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
– Finance & Insurance/Finance Management : 10+ Years
– Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) : Degree plus relevant professional qualification i.e. MBA or Qualified accountant
Experience
– 10+ years in a similar capacity-leading a function within a Finance department at a management level in a large, multi-national organisation.
– Experience of successfully working in a matrix organisation
