Acts under the supervision of the Surgical Consultant in the provision of a General Surgical service and to support the Surgical Consultant in their duties.
Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Rules and Regulations
Attends daily ward rounds with the surgical team. Take hand over of patients from previous shift Registrar, so that continuity of care is ensured, and immediate decisions are made, and orders written.
Reviews patients on a regular basis in accordance with the plan of care made at the beginning of the shift and inform the consultant of any issues or problems
Surgical Registrar must be in contact (written or verbal) to visiting surgeons and arrange if needed the admission and preparation of their patients for operation.
Documents review findings in clinical notes in a timely and legible manner.
Covers Operating Room duties as assigned.
Completes discharge files and statistics.
Shares the on-call schedule in the department of surgery as required
Acts and behaves professionally and perform one’s duties in a manner that optimizes patient care.
Adheres to Hospital Policies and Procedures e.g., JCI, Code Blue, infection control, working hours
Complies with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices in a safe working environment
Undertakes any other duties that may be required, which could include assisting medical colleagues throughout the hospital
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelors’ Degree in Medicine followed by Masters’ Degree in relevant specialty.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Licensing: Valid License from Ministry of Health-Kuwait to practice as a Registrar of General Surgery
