At Star International we follow the EYFS curriculum in Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum for England in Primary and Secondary, adapting to suit the culture and requirements within the UAE and our diverse student body. 

Main purpose 

The Assistant Head will support Head of Primary in: 

•  Communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the principal’s strategic leadership
• The day-to-day management of the school
• Formulating the aims and objectives of the school 
• Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
• Managing staff and resources to that end
• Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school’s aims and objectives

The Assistant Head will also have a timetabled teaching commitment of at least 50% complying with the Teachers’ Standards and modelling best practice for others.

Terms and Conditions

• Minimum two year contract

Qualifications / Experience Required

• Relevant British teaching qualification: to teach Key Stage 2 (a Bachelor’s degree and a recognised teaching qualification)
• A minimum of 2 years recent teaching experience in a British primary school in UK or a British Curriculum school overseas
• A good knowledge of the National Curriculum of England
• Excellent communication skills to lead by example, as well as collaborate with Key Stage leaders, Senior Management and parents
• Be flexible and adaptable
• Have the ability to research new initiatives and implement them whilst evaluating current processes
• Have the ability to confidently utilise AFL strategies and a variety of tasks to enhance learning
• Be proficient in ICT and Seesaw.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities and the willingness to deliver in-school inset.
