Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing and managing all financial functions within the company. This role is crucial in providing strategic financial direction, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, and optimizing financial performance to support business growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and execute financial strategies and plans aligned with the company’s retail or FMCG objectives.
• Create, monitor, and analyze financial forecasts, budgets, and financial models.
• Evaluate and report on financial performance, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, adhering to industry-specific accounting standards.
• Oversee financial audits and regulatory compliance, staying updated on retail or FMCG-specific regulations.
• Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, obsolescence, and shrinkage analysis.
• Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to optimize inventory turnover and cost efficiency.
• Analyze product costs and pricing strategies to maintain competitive margins.
• Conduct profitability analysis by SKU, category, or channel to inform pricing and product decisions.
• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity for daily operations, including inventory procurement and distribution.
• Optimize working capital management in alignment with seasonal demands and market trends.
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks, such as currency fluctuations, commodity price volatility, and credit risk.
• Utilize hedging and risk management tools where applicable.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, including finance managers, analysts, and accounting staff.
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
• Monitor and report on industry-specific KPIs, such as inventory turnover, sell-through rates, and store-level profitability.
• Analyze customer behavior and sales data to inform marketing and merchandising strategies.
• Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software tailored to retail or FMCG needs.
• Stay abreast of industry-specific technology trends and best practices.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree or CPA/CMA certification is often preferred.
• Extensive experience in financial management roles within the retail or FMCG sector.
• In-depth knowledge of retail or FMCG accounting principles, industry-specific regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in retail-specific financial metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software commonly used in the industry.
