Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Mechanical Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to perform difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing:
The Mechanical Inspector is a full-time position reporting to the O&M and Resident Engineer and is responsible for conducting field inspections, tests, evaluations, verifications, and documentation of the O&M Contractor’s inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance within all mechanical systems including the potable water network and filling station, the irrigation network and pumping station, the sewer network and sewage pumping station, the stormwater network and pumping station, and the diesel generators.
Performs destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflex, dyepenetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness, and resistivity.
Supports the electrical, civil and landscape Inspectors with all mechanical related support inspection activities.
Oversees the daily routine operations and maintenance works by the O&M Contractors at site and identifies any issues or required works.
Prepares inspection reports and site records as required within the Contract or as required by the Client or PMC staff.
Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations. Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures
Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Associate’s or equivalent degree or diploma in mechanical engineering and equivalent work experience, is required.
Minimum 7 years of related experience on heavy construction projects, as well as formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction related processes related to area of assignment.
