Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Qatar
POSITION SUMMARY PAE is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a recently awarded contract at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will: Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicles and heavy equipment. Correct deficiencies in components and ancillary equipment. Perform service, maintenance, repairs and overhauls in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations. Perform equipment repairs in response to maintenance requests, in shop or in field locations. Use diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct equipment faults. Analyze and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic faults. Operate shop equipment including overhead cranes, compressors, presses, grinders, hand tools, and tire servicing equipment. Lift, move and/or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling and PPE. Comply with all ASC Environmental, Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance requirements and goals, providing documentation as necessary where required by law. May work days, nights or swing shifts depending on operational needs. Assist other mechanics and members of the team as required. Document all work performed including diagnosis, root cause, labor and parts. Conduct requirements research related to parts and necessary repairs. Prepare reports as required. Maintain a safe and clean workplace ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS Must have at least 3 years of directly related experience working on both Heavy Equipment and vehicles. Must have a valid driver’s license and current passport. Must have an Active U.S. Government issued Secret Security Clearance and maintain it for the duration of the contract. Requires the ability to successfully pass CENTCOM medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment. Must be able to obtain a Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
EDUCATION Associate’s degree in vehicle/heavy equipment maintenance or equivalent trade school or military training is preferred.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities in an OCONUS environment. Requires relevant overseas experience, preferably in the LOCATION with knowledge of local culture and customs. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards. Requires strong analytical capabilities with respect to metrics and process improvement.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit / 50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time.
