Job Purpose

Coordination of the Project controls processes across OQ E&P projects, under Manager, Project Control & Planning by applying Project Controls procedures and setting Targets to ensure Project control standards are implemented across all projects. Monitoring the implementation of project control requirements to assure safe implementation, monitoring project performance and execution over the Projects Life Cycle both with respect to the schedule, actual/physical progress, Cost and Budget whilst also suggesting corrective steps in case of deviations related to project control standards; in order to effectively contribute to the technical and timely delivery of all projects. Promote and maintain a project control conscious environment throughout the project execution cycle.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

• Together with the Manager Project Control & Planning Upstream, review and check project Control & Planning standards and specifications to ensure adequacy with the Contract / procedures and to meet safe execution, operability and maintainability.
• Review and check Project Control & Planning documents produced during the FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning and to ensure compliance with the OQ procedures, the contract and the baseline cost and schedule.
• Continuously monitor performance to ensure all Project Control cost and schedule deliverables are issued in accordance with requirements and when necessary appropriate measure is taken to correct any noncompliance.
• Interface with another discipline engineering, procurement, Construction and Commissioning to ensure Project Control & Planning requirements are satisfactorily addressed.
• Develop plans and schedules and oversees the entire program of work for all Project Delivery activity and update the schedule based on inputs received from the project team, Contractors and /or Operations
• Understand the dynamics of critical path scheduling and verify critical path and interfaces between design/ engineering/ procurement / execution and operations
• Coordinate and organize planning activities related to head office and site works. Verify and audit contractor schedules, job plans including Labor, Tool, Equipment and Materials Estimates. Monitor progress as is required by the project and compare with the budget cost and the baseline plan.
• Select the most appropriate techniques and logical sequence of activities to complete project scope in consultation with the necessary discipline or functional specialist. Generate reports of schedule, critical path and resources
• Develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) when required and integrate this in the project Schedule, budget / finance definition and to assess progress in manageable and accurately forecast time, resources. Prepare monthly and weekly progress reports, charts, histograms and S-curves on all projects
• Set up alerts for all important contractual and milestone dates on the schedule and highlight any exceptions to the project team and Management. Analyse the root cause(s) of delay and identify any threat to the schedule/milestones. Attend project progress meetings question and highlight items related to budget, cost planning and scheduling whilst also in coordination with the Project Management teams, challenge the contractor or third party proposed work/project schedule and histogram schedule and identify unrealistic sequence/execution period or inadequate manning levels.
• Train and coach junior engineers, prepare their training and career development plans, monitor and report their progress.
• Previous experience in establishing a Schedule Risk Analysis on a Project schedule developed either by using the Contractors schedule and/or Company’ integrated schedule including multiple Contractor schedules

Internal: Liaise with colleagues within Projects, functional leaders and other internal stakeholders for day to day work.

External: Contractors, vendors, national government offices, external consultants

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, frequent travel, and visits to the operational sites. Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education Requirements

• Minimum qualification for this position is a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related
• Primavera certification and training

Language Requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic – Native (desirable)

Background And Experience

Competencies and skills

• 8+ years of relevant experience
• Relevant experience in a relevant position with strong experience in utilisation of Primavera and Cost management tools.
• Adaptable and motivated in challenging and changing project environments and able to sustain working pressure.
• Detailed experienced in working with multiple schedules not limited to resource control, forecasting, resourcing early late curves and related schedule reporting.
• At least 4 years’ experience with Primavera scheduling software.
