Role Purpose

Front Office Engineer shall monitor and manage Omantel Fixed and Mobile network; alarm events, network/service outages, network/service performance deterioration & customer complaints through network management systems. He/She should follow ITIL/e-TOM processes to ensure smooth network operations & to meet the set KPIs targets.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Key Activities

1. Planning and Performance Management

• Ensures maximum possible service availability and performance.
• Supervises the functioning of network components and makes sure that they are active and problem free.
• By the application of essential software and hardware tools, detects and identify the nature of the problem and use proper precautions to solve the problem.
• Maintains network facilities for continuous performance.
• Monitors feasibility of SLAs and OLAs of assigned services, and advises on improvements

1. Reporting

• Receives Customers’ complaints of different services.
• Logs a ticket and traces the fault till resolution.
• Keeps updating customers for any reported fault.
• Accountable for managing complaints and ensuring that they are resolved.
• Maintains a detailed record of the problems and methods used to solve it.
• Reports on technical issues / status to Level 3 NOC engineers or experts
• Reporting to the management on network operations
• Gathers information from service owners and key users, determines and reports on overall ticket performance.
• Able to prepare on-demand reports during major faults, emergency cases & different events

1. Operational Management

• Accomplish the work according to policies/processes of the company.
• Deals with power outages, network failures and make sure that networks status is stable.
• Conduct regular health checks on network performance and prepares final reports for management.
• Takes the help of technical experts from the organization or from outside (if required) to solve a problem.
• Fault handling and escalation (identifying and responding to faults in Omantel systems and networks,
• Customer support and ticket resolution
• Performs Incident Management and Problem Management tasks of networks activities
• Investigates, troubleshoots and fixes problems on relevant systems

1. Coordination and follow-up

• Coordination and administrative tasks.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge / Technical Skills

• Should be able to solve different network problems which may include those that cannot be resolved using typical methods.
• Should be able to think ahead in order to use proactive measures.
• Should have good communication skills and problem solving capabilities in addition to technical knowledge.
• Experience in Network Management, Operation Support Systems (OSS).
• Good Knowledge of related Telecom technologies (TCP/IP, routing protocols, OSI layers and their important protocols), Fixed network and Mobile network.
• Good knowledge of the network topology, its traffic handling capabilities and traffic characteristics.
• Good knowledge about network operation center processes and interfaces.
• Good knowledge of network implementation / integration processes
• Good communication skills and understanding of various culture.
• Fluency in English and Arabic

Education /Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecom or any equivalent Engineering degrees

Experience

• Minimum of 3-6 years of experience
