The School
Compass International School Doha – a Nord Anglia School
Compass International School Doha opened in 2006 and has grown to 4 campuses in the capital city of the State of Qatar. The school provides premium education for expat and local families looking for a British, international curriculum. The campus will accept students from Early Years through to Year 13, offering the International Primary Curriculum, English National Curriculum and A levels as well as other vocational programmes (BTEC) in Years 12 and 13. The campus, with the backing from Nord Anglia Education will have global reach and offer programmes beyond other schools.
Madinat Khalifa Campus is a school of 750 children, this has a primary school that is predominantly on the ground floor and a secondary of 450 students. The school has been well established in the community for over ten years. Presently there is four form entry from Years 7 – 10, three in Year 11 and two in Years 12 and 13. We have 40 dedicated teaching staff in secondary school who are mostly from the UK. The school has a strong leadership structure. This includes a Deputy Head, a Phase Leader for Key Stage 3, 4 and IB Diploma Coordinator. The pastoral support is enhanced by a leader for each year group and an Assistant IB Coordinator. Students study a bespoke curriculum based on the English National Curriculum in KS3 combined with compulsory lessons in Arabic and Islamic studies for our Muslim students and a lesson a week of compulsory History of Qatar for all students. Students study a combination of Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSEs in Key Stage 4. In years 12 and 13 students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Exam results are excellent, showing accelerated levels of progress. The exam results have risen every year, with last summer’s results being the best the school has achieved. 44% of grades were A**-A. We have also stayed strong to our belief in our ‘be ambitious’ philosophy and introduced early entry pathways for ICT, computer science and maths. Supplementing this we have created further provision for budding scientists provided by a department that has achieved the best GCSE results in Doha two years running.
At the IB Diploma level, we have increased our average points score to 32.4 and we consistently have students achieving 40+ points. This year we have also added Arabic as one of the optional languages. We have grown the opportunity and provision for the character development of the students, so they are our future leaders and have the skills necessary to compete and succeed in a world outside of school. The extensive student leadership and sporting opportunities that we provide, an enhanced house system and being the lead school in the Middle East for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award are just the surface of opportunities for the students We pride ourselves on our warm and friendly atmosphere and it is something that all visitors comment on.
Our Madinat Khalifa campus offers outdoor basketball and sports court, and in addition to the 20-metre swimming pool, there is a junior learning pool, a fitness suite, and a science suite. The secondary students here study the English National Curriculum at KS3 leading to IGCSE and the IB Diploma. At Madinat Khalifa, you won’t be simply joining a school, but a community.
