Role Purpose

The PYP LA teacher will work with and assist the PYP teachers to endorse and practice the philosophy, pedagogy (including environment, learning, teaching and assessment) research and innovation aspects of the PYP phase and will work as an active member of the PYP team to ensure that the day to day running and development of PYP learning is carried out in accordance with the aims of the NEOM Education, Research and Innovation Sector. She/he will be accountable for supporting the aims and vision of the whole school in this phase and will support the work of the school in contributing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

Key Responsibilities

• Support and encourage children to achieve confidence and competence in inquiry-based learning under the guidance of the class teacher
• Contribute to the assessment of children’ attainment and progress
• identify and respond appropriately to individual student needs
• lead learning activities, based on best practice PYP learning both individually and in groups as agreed with the class teacher
• present learning tasks and curriculum content in a clear and stimulating manner
• communicate clearly and effectively with children; foster and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with children, teachers and parents
• manage their own and children’s time effectively
• prepare, use and maintain classroom resources to ensure that they are in good working order and sufficient, as requested by the class teacher
• provide support and guidance for children to interpret activities and other resources and to set out their work appropriately.
• create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
• set and maintain clear expectations of children’s behaviour and assist in securing appropriate standards of discipline
• learn and develop PYP childhood learning and teaching strategies and approaches
• develop secure an understanding of how young children learn and develop, by observation of and with guidance from the teacher
• support children in personal hygiene and wellbeing routines under the Health, Safety and Child Protection policies of NEOM Community School
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to children’s learning, development and care at all times
• Participate in Extra Curricular Activities as required, at the discretion of the PYP teacher and Head of School

• Present and maintain a highly professional profile at all times, representing the school appropriately in all client-facing situations and respecting the cultural and religious sensitivities of the region
• Forge authentic processes to engage parents in the learning process, embracing diversity and promoting equity for all members of the NEOM Community and encourage active contributions from parents on a regular basis

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Skills And Qualities

• Have experience of working with children from 5 to 11 years in a care and education capacity
• Have a mature, responsible and positive disposition and be able to work flexibly as member of the PYP team under the direction of the teachers and independently when required;

Have an understanding of the importance of children’s learning and development in the PYP

• Be open minded and willing to further their knowledge and development by attending training courses, and maintaining updated knowledge of international PYP best practice
• Exemplify high standards in practice and provision at all times.
• Have up to date knowledge of Health & Safety regulations with specific reference to children’s wellbeing, learning and facilities.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Qualification in Childhood Studies/Education and Care

Fluent in Arabic language and literacy.
