Scope of Position

The Duty Engineer’s role is mainly focused on Front of House and Services directly affecting the Guest and Back of House support. He is however expected to actively supervise, support and assist the Shift Technician. The Shift Engineer will be Service Orientated and flexible enough to support both the Guest and in-house staff needs alike.

Responsibilities 

1.  Maintain proper and safe condition of all Plant, Plant Rooms, Equipment and Work areas.

2.  Comply with all Fire, Life, Health and Safety Standards.

3.  To be conversant with the Hotel Emergency Procedures.

4.  Perform Emergency Response Team duties as required.

6. Be courteous, and professional when dealing with Guest, and fellow Staff   

     Members.

7.  Assist Guests, Patrons and Fellow Staff Members as and when appropriate.

8.  Undertake specific duties and projects when assigned.

9.  Actively support Training Programs.

10. To carry out work in accordance with The Hotel Planned Maintenance Program.

11. Familiarize himself with the technical details of all Plant and Services relating to the Hotel.

12. Work shifts as designated.

13. Maintain, repair, check and record equipment relating to:

• Guest Facilities
• Public area and heart of the house facilities
• Plant Rooms
• Air Conditioning Equipment
• Refrigeration Equipment
• Fire, Life, Health and Safety
• Electrical and Mechanical Services
• Plumbing and Heating
• Entertainment Equipment
• Kitchens
• Lighting
• Furniture, Fittings and General Equipment

14. Actively supervise and support the Shift Technician.

15. Ensure all log books and records are kept up to date.

16. Assist Engineering personnel with technical advice and ensure standards are maintained.

17. Deputize for Assistant Chief Engineer, Maintenance Engineer and Project Engineer in their absence.

18. Actively assist with Energy Conservation and Control.
