Position Overview
The role is to lead the MENA research team. This role will include implementing the agreed strategy, launching new or updated products to market and taking the lead on building relationships with the various stakeholders in multiple subject areas including Islamic finance.
Essential Responsibilities
• Lead the MENA research team and supervise all research projects and its requisite asset classes.
• Effectively engage in the preparation of assigned internal and external research projects from planning to delivery.
• Work closely with various department heads including Islamic Finance, Zawya editorial and Knowledge solutions to develop new products and research reports.
• Accompany proposition team to client meetings and support with preparing business presentations and proposals for prospecting new business.
• Maintain strong client relationship and ensure client happiness.
• Support the development of relationships and acquire new research content from various institutions related to Islamic finance, including professional, academic and financial markets communities.
• Speak and participate in Islamic finance events and conferences to position Refinitiv as a thought leader in Islamic finance space.
Required Skills and Experience
• Must understand and have solid understanding of research production and the requisite content / data to support it.
• Must have understanding of the Islamic finance market and the needs of Islamic finance institutions.
• Critical thinking, intuition, as well as proven project management skills are a must for this position. General interest in financial markets and underlying data is critical for long-term success in the position.
• Ability to present data in clear succinct manner for both documents and presentations. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to present at all levels. Also, a minimum amount of public speaking and/or media experience is required.
• Extensive knowledge of company data, products and services.
• Strong ability to synthesize information from various subject areas is needed.
• Proven experience within the industry and have worked in the Islamic finance or investment industry working on advisory, research, economics, performance, portfolio, distribution and other related subject matter to be in the position.
Qualifications
• Specialization in Finance gained either through graduate studies or through at least five years of related work experience.
• Masters or PhD from a recognized university with concentrations in Islamic Finance, economics, business administration, mathematics or a related field is preferred.
• Work experience in either research functions for debt or equity capital markets as a research analyst
• Proficient in written and spoken Arabic and ability to understand cultural norms in the Middle East and Africa region is a plus.
• Industry qualifications preferred (CFA, MBA, CMT, Series 7)
