Kuwait Steel Looking for Crane Operator at Kuwait Full Time

Perform day to day activities related to operation of overhead cranes of scrapyard, billet yard, and tundish bay including operation abnormalities notification and maintaining safe working environment and reporting unsafe conditions. Perform related activities for overhead crane performance improvement as directed by immediate superior.

• Complies to IMS system (QMS, EMS & OHSAS) requirements as set by the company.
• Follows all the company policies, Regulations of (govt.& companies) and securing the company’s Assets in line with code of conduct.
• Contributes to minimization of production cost by operating the crane at its optimum level with utmost care to minimize usage of spare parts, manpower manhours and tools.
• Reads, understands and complies to all work instructions, and safety procedures related to his line of work as well as complying to health, and environmental standard of the company.
• Attends toolbox meeting with his crew members; addressing and contributing to safe working practice issues, incident report discussion, housekeeping and hazards and risk identification.
• Verifies that all lifting tools and tackles being used for rigging/hoisting are in good condition and that the usage in correct by the ground crew.
• Strictly follows shift relieving policy (hand over & takeover of shift and work site) and must ensure that he is available at work site during working hours.
• Carries out instructions and other related work being handed down by his superior.
• Carries out pre-operation check of his crane including test movements prior to his proper shift duty and any abnormalities found shall be reported to his immediate superior.
• He shall cooperate as well as to have initiative in any projects that will improve the safe operation of the overhead cranes.
• He shall coordinate and support maintenance crew during shutdown maintenance.
• He shall focus his attention in overhead crane operation activities of scrapyard, billet yard and tundish bay to optimize productivity and eliminate risks or accidents.
• He shall roll down to his reliever any information related to his work and the crane such as change in the operating procedures and change in the machine parts and/or machine movement.
• He shall carry out job specific works such as lifting, lowering, transferring, loading/unloading, dumping, charging and installation.
• He shall engage the emergency button to stop crane in case of observed abnormal movement and report immediately to his superior.
• He shall carry out break test for loads approaching the lifting capacity of the crane.
• He shall maintain clear and open communication with the rigger and/or superior giving the rigging instructions for critical and non-routine jobs.
• When in doubt, he must stop and clarify the instruction given by the rigger or superior to avoid unwanted incidents.
• He must stop to any signal given by anybody during emergency and near miss situation.
• He shall attend a regular training of refresher course about crane safety.
• He shall confirm with maintenance crew and seek clearance to operate after every crane maintenance job.

He must have a good knowledge of rigging and hoisting technique.
