About Simon Wiesenthal
At the end of World War II, thousands of Nazis who participated in the systematic murder of some 6,000,000 Jews and millions of Gypsies, Poles, and other “inferior” peoples, slipped through the Allied net and escaped to countries around the globe, where many still live in freedom.
Simon Wiesenthal, a survivor of the Nazi death camps, dedicated his life to standing against all forms of injustice, documenting the crimes of the Holocaust, and to hunting down the perpetrators still at large. “When history looks back,” Wiesenthal explained, “I want people to know the Nazis weren’t able to kill millions of people and get away with it.” His work stands as a reminder and a warning for future generations.
As Founder and Head of the Jewish Documentation Center in Vienna, the freelance Nazi hunter, usually with the cooperation of the Israeli, Austrian, former West German and other governments, ferreted out nearly 1,100 Nazi war criminals, including Adolf Eichmann, the administrator of the slaughter of the Jews; Franz Murer, “The Butcher of Wilno,” and Erich Rajakowitsch, in charge of the “death transports” in Holland. Accounts of his grim sleuthing are detailed in his memoirs, The Murderers Among Us (1967). His other books include Sails of Hope (1973), Sunflower (1970), Max and Helen (1982), Krystyna (1987), Every Day Remembrance Day (1987), and Justice Not Vengeance (1989). In 1989, a film based on Mr.
Wiesenthal’s life, Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story was produced by Home Box Office and starred Academy Award-winning actor Ben Kingsley as Simon Wiesenthal.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a leading international Jewish human rights organization founded in 1977 by Rabbi Marvin Hier. In addition, the Center developed Moriah Films to produce theatrical documentaries to educate global audiences. Moriah has produced 17 documentaries to date, two of which have received the Academy Award for best feature documentary, The Long Way Home (1997) and Genocide (1981).
For over 40 years, the Center has been one of the most visible Jewish organizations in the world. With a constituency of over 400,000 households in the United States, the Center is accredited as an NGO at international organizations including the United Nations, UNESCO, OSCE, Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the Simon Wiesenthal Center maintains offices in New York, Toronto, Miami, Chicago, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Jerusalem. The Center recently developed the Mobile Museum of Tolerance to provide education on matters including anti- Semitism, racism, intolerance, and other forms of hatred to communities unable to easily access the Museum of Tolerance – Los Angeles in person.

Museum of Tolerance – Los Angeles
The Center’s educational arm, founded in 1993, challenges visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts. The Museum has served over 7 million visitors with 350,000 visiting annually, including 150,000 students. Over 3 million children and youth have participated in the Museum experience and its programs. Moriah Films
Moriah Films is the two-time Academy Award®-winning film division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. It has produced 17 documentaries that have examined the tragedy of the Holocaust, seminal events in modern Jewish history, the creation of the State of Israel and the lives of epic personalities of the 20th and 21st centuries. Moriah Films’ in-house production studio is a state-of-the-art film, video, and sound editing facility using the latest and most cutting-edge technology available in the industry. Over one billion people around the globe have seen Moriah’s films, including Oscar® winners Genocide and The Long Way Home, in theaters, on cable, and on every major streaming platform, including Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Museum of Tolerance – Jerusalem
A multi-faceted educational institution and social laboratory in the heart of Jerusalem that speaks to the world and confronts today’s important issues – like global antisemitism, extremism, hate, human dignity, and responsibility, and promoting unity and respect among Jews and people of all faiths. The three-acre, 185,000 square foot facility will house two experiential museums, one for adults and one for children, a state-of-the-art International Conference Center, Grand Hall, Education Center offering training programs and seminars given by outstanding teachers, rabbis and experts, and a Theater for the Performing Arts hosting important films and concerts. Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Simon Wiesenthal Center seeks a dynamic, strategic, and inspiring leader with superior strategy development, relationship building, management, and fundraising skills to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO is a critically important role for the Center as it plans for its next phase of organizational growth following the steadfast leadership of Rabbi Marvin Hier.
This position requires a talented, entrepreneurial professional, with an international reach and conceptual understanding of the Center’s mission and impact. The Center seeks a seasoned executive who can articulate the case for the Center and raise both private and institutional funds to further the organization’s growth and success. This individual will serve as the primary spokesperson and thought leader for the Center and have a visible profile among key professional, lay, and donor constituencies.
Strategic Advancement
Implement and grow SWC’s programs in a manner aligned with the organization’s mission.
Guide the organization and its diverse internal and external stakeholders through goal setting and prioritizing, long-range planning, and growth.
Further an already impressive community image through active and visible community, professional, civic, and private organization relationship development.

Vision and Executive Leadership
Lead the development and execution of long-term strategies including the definition and execution of SWC’s strategic plan.
Influence and shape the organizational culture by articulating and embedding values, hiring, developing talent, and aligning organizational systems.

Serve as an advocate and ambassador for SWC locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Oversee the successful completion of Simon Wiesenthal Center’s upcoming capital campaign.
Board Relations and Governance
Communicate effectively with the Board of Trustees (SWC’s board of directors) and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
In collaboration with the Board of Trustees, organize and facilitate effective board committees, subcommittees, and working groups to best utilize the substantial talent and experience on the board to further the mission.
In partnership with the Board of Trustees, identify, cultivate, and attract new Board and Advisory members to the organization.
Work in partnership with the Board of Trustees to unlock prospective new donors for SWC.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
SWC seeks a charismatic, passionate, and driven leader who embodies the values and mission of the organization. The ideal leader is a highly inspiring, credible, and dynamic spokesperson and fundraiser with a passion and alignment for the communities served by SWC. The leader will garner respect by senior members of the human rights advocacy community, including its leaders and major donors, and play a significant role in representing the organization at major events, and driving critical relationships and partnerships as the most senior SWC representative. The ideal leader possesses strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills along with strong fundraising capabilities, and has the ability to inspire the staff to work together as a unified team. The Chief Executive Officer will invest in and expand programs to grow the number of constituents and donors at all levels – creating a pipeline of support in communities across the United States and beyond.

A fundraising strategist with experience in developing and managing a range of fundraising techniques and programs from major donor programs to digital and social media platforms.
A manager who has created and executed upon comprehensive and detailed strategic plans with qualitative and quantitative metrics for tracking accountability and success of staff, programs, and facilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Ability to relate to and partner with multiple constituencies, internally and externally, including the Board of Trustees, staff, and key stakeholders.
