Jacobs is looking for a talented Structural Buildings Engineering Director to lead our structural discipline team within Cities and Places based in Dubai. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the Structural teams in all offices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and innovative design solutions.
• Responsible, in partnership with the Design Leadership Team, for business development, quality management and the management of key talent within Jacobs Structural discipline.
• Plan, lead, organize and control the operations of the Structural Department in all offices across the Middle East and managing client relationships.
• Participate in marketing and business development activities as necessary, including coordination of technical inputs.
• Resource allocation to ensure execution of projects with the best outcome in terms of Client satisfaction and Company returns.
• Together with the technical leaders and other operational management resources, ensure technical oversight of the Structural staff engaged on design of projects.
• Implement project specific QA/QC procedures to maintain quality of deliverables.
• Coordinate with other departments and divisions to ensure successful delivery of projects.
• Maintain agreed levels of resource utilization for all structural staff in the department.
• Provide leadership in the exchange of knowledge relating to best design practice and identify new technology.
• Provide leadership to all staff within the structural department in directing their successful contribution to Jacobs and developing their careers and skills.
• Work together with other disciplines across Jacobs design centers offices on matters related to the performance of the structural staff and projects to maintain high technical standards.
• Responsible for monitoring the technical capabilities and competencies of staff and recommend the appropriate course of action to improve individual and group activities.
• Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching/development and motivating direct reports.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
• Bachelors in Structural Engineering. Masters in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• 20 years of relevant international and local experience in delivering high-end and complex engineering buildings projects, from concept through detailed design to completion of construction.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget.
• Experienced in the use of American Design codes, Saudi Building Code. Knowledge of BS/EU standards is a plus point.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (IStructuE or ICE or CEng) is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, regulations, and industry best practices in the Middle East.
• Proficiency in structural design software and tools.
• Commitment to safety and sustainability in design practices.
