Fincantieri Marine Systems Hiring for Service Manager Job at Mayport, FL Full Time

Basic Purpose and Function:

The Service Manager directs and coordinates the activities associated with all Fincantieri Marine Systems, LLC (FMS) service locations to include Chesapeake, Virginia; Mayport, Florida; Manama, Bahrain; and Sasebo, Japan. The Service Manager is responsible for working effectively with Senior leadership and other Department Managers during each phase of the service project process.

• Advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic systems maintenance and repair.

• Advanced knowledge of marine applications and propulsion systems.
• Advanced knowledge of engine diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Passport.
• Ability to travel to FMS service center locations both domestically and internationally as required.
• Ability to work on seaborn vessels and in uncomfortable working environments for extended hours.
• Regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor s degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or six (6) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of high-speed diesel engine repair experience including high pressure common rail (HPCR), required.
  
• Five (5) years of United States government contracting experience, preferred.
• Five (5) years of experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, or engineering industries, preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items and Familiarization with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) rules and regulations.

Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties):

• Directs a service department of twenty (20) to forty (40) individuals, including various levels of mechanics and service coordinators.
• Plans all manpower needs and establishes baseline staff requirements for FMS s multiple service center locations.
• Develops department budget and cost control measures to ensure service goals are met on time.
• Plans and establishes service and production priorities to ensure delivery dates and budget goals are achieved.
• Manages multiple service schedules and priorities based on customer s needs.
• Reviews and analyzes maintenance, and service reports to determine causes of product specification nonconformities and recommends opportunities for improvement.
• Develops and implements service methods and procedures designed to eliminate chronic problems and improve product quality.
• Consults with technical personnel relative to modifications of engines and equipment to improve production and quality of products.
• Regularly communicates project statuses to both deck plate tradesmen and executive teams (Ship s Representative, Ship s Captain, Management, or Executive Leadership).
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
