FAO Pakistan under the Green Climate Fund is implementing a project called Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management in Punjab and Sindh Provinces. The project aims to develop the country’s capacity to get and use the information it needs to cope with the impacts of climate change on agriculture and water management. The overall goal of the projects is to enhance the capacity of agricultural and pastoral sectors to cope with climate change, by up scaling farmers’ adoption of climate change adaptation technologies and practices through a network of already established Farmers Field Schools, and by mainstreaming climate change adaptation concerns and strategies into on-going agricultural development initiatives, policies and programming.
There is currently a multidisciplinary project team working on different components of the Project. FAO Pakistan seeks Programme Support to contribute in the implementation of the “Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management Project” funded by the Green Climate Fund with co-funds from the Government of the Punjab and Sindhi Provinces.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Pakistan (FAOR); and in close coordination with the Head of Office (Punjab), the incumbent will report Head of FAO Punjab Office.
He/she works with wide latitude for independent action and gives guidance and advice to clerical and/or junior programme support staff. He/she works collaboratively with the Project Management Unit operating under the Country Office and also with the administrative staff of the Project and the Country Office.
Technical Focus
Plays a lead role in the coordination of field programme/project support services for the FAO Representation. He/she performs a broad range of programme, planning and budgeting activities requiring in-depth analysis and interpretation of relevant policies, procedures and practices. The incumbent’s work impacts directly on the smooth and efficient operations of the field programme/project activities of the Country Office.
