Overview
This role will oversee the quality of Arabic dubbing and subtitling across a FTA channel working closely with the Asharq Team (our JV partner), Programming, Marketing, On Air Teams, Reversioning, Content Operations Teams and the Arabic localisation studios.
The role will be an editorial and operational role focused on the quality of translation, correct use of terminology, the quality and delivery of the voice to ensure that the Arabic voice-over and subtitling is correct in tone for the channel and is on brand to enhance viewing experience and thereby assist in achieving revenue target. This role will also work with the Asharq Team and the localisation studios to ensure that materials for QC are exchanged in a timely fashion to support the workflow and meet deadlines.
The role will work closely with the Arabic localisation studios selecting voices, style of dubbing and providing guidance and support on all editorial and stylistic issues. The position will also be responsible for working with the Asharq Team to monitor, check and report on the translation quality and working with the Arabic localisation studios to improve and ensure the Arabic translation is of a high standard and reflects the programme content with the correct tone.
Responsibilities
Allocate programmes to the studios
Cast Arabic voices for each series
Working with the Asharq Team on the editing and approval of language versions for the sound recordings
QC and spot check Arabic translations for key promotables and tent poles
Co-ordinate and communicate programme title translations and programme Synopsis, participate in titling of stunts, seasons, theme nights etc.
Compile a translation style guide for the UAE market and individual programme series and ensure the studios adhere to it
Provide direction and guidance to the dubbing studios on stylistic issues and UK/US cultural references
Communication and cooperation with translators and dubbing studios, the Asharq Team as well as with the head office in London

Qualifications
Mother tongue Arabic speaker
Translation and/or linguistic experience
Flair for language and high level of written competency in Arabic
Fluent and good comprehension of English, particularly idiomatic English
Knowledge and understanding of the Arabic TV market
Media/broadcast experience desirable
Passion for factual and lifestyle TV Content
Ability to make quick decisions and to use creative judgment to support editorial directive
Self-motivated
Highly organized
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative, be solution orientated, see the bigger picture and plan for the future
Standard IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
