Job Purpose:
The Legal Advisor is responsible for overseeing and monitoring internal legal affairs, including the preparation of contracts and agreements with external parties, ensuring compliance and implementation, and providing legal advice on inquiries from internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
– Review and approve the organization’s legal policies, guidelines, and standard forms related to contracts and agreements, offering advice on necessary amendments.
– Monitor the review of project and service contracts to ensure adherence to applicable legal policies and guidelines, ensuring the integrity of content and identifying any flaws that may affect the organization’s interests and privileges.
– Identify potential risks arising from the execution of contracts, develop mitigation procedures, and ensure accurate and timely implementation.
– Ensure proper contract implementation from a legal perspective, ensuring compliance with legal policies and guidelines, and intervene in resolving complex discrepancies when necessary.
– Review and approve all contract amendment requests from departments, ensuring timely and efficient intervention to avoid inconsistencies.
– Participate in committees responsible for overseeing contract awarding from a legal procedures and controls perspective to ensure compliance.
– Provide input on legal advice related to complex contract and agreement inquiries, clarifying ambiguities, and offering guidance on solutions and recommendations.
– Monitor legal compliance of documents by reviewing all required information regarding applicable laws and regulations, and approving actions to be taken.
– Provide input on legal studies submitted and offer legal opinions on complex inquiries from various departments.
– Ensure legal support is provided to Human Resources regarding labor laws, regulations, policies, and intervene when necessary to handle complex cases.
– Seek external legal experts when needed to provide additional legal advice to support the management of the organization’s internal and external cases.
– Ensure tasks are carried out meticulously and in a coordinated manner, in line with relevant policies, procedures, and instructions.
– Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices, considering leading practices.
– Promote, implement, and adhere to the organization’s policies, processes, and operational procedures.
– Transfer expertise and knowledge to less experienced employees, ensuring they are familiar with approved work policies and procedures.
– Supervise and assist the direct team in performing their daily activities in accordance with policies and procedures.
– Contribute to on-the-job training of employees.
– Provide opportunities for team members to present suggestions and participate in improvement, innovation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
– Ensure the team’s tasks align with the organization’s values, policies, processes, and systems.
– Provide support to other departments on job-related matters and perform tasks typically handled by employees from other functional levels within the department or organization when necessary.
– Collaborate with the organization and colleagues to help meet legal requirements and the organization’s policies.
– Adapt to any developmental programs or changes within the organization, including strategic and executive initiatives, performance enhancement tasks, and any job-related activities arising from such changes as part of the job description.
– Perform any other tasks as required and within the required timeframe at any of the organization’s locations if necessary.
– Contribute to executing any functional tasks to ensure business continuity in the absence of other colleagues.
Required Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in law or an equivalent qualification.
– At least 5 years of experience in legal consultancy.
