Leads the accounts department and advises management on current budgetary information to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and maintains a documented system of the accounting procedures of the company and audits the work of the accounts department
• Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases
• Prepares and reviews the company’s budget with ongoing cost reduction analyses, reports to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
• Monitors banking activities of the company and reconciles bank statements to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
• Monitors loans, credit terms and accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date
• Interprets the company’s financial results to management and recommends improvement activities
• Prepares and presents financial statements and reports for management and external agencies
• Files tax returns in line with local regulations
• Hires and trains team members to meet their targets and goals; coaches and disciplines as necessary
• Monitors the team’s progress and proposes improvements on an ongoing basis
• Ensures adherence to local regulations and company policies
• Any other duties as specified

Requirements

• Experienced in a similar role in retail / trading industry for at least 5 years, with supervisory responsibilities for 2 years
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent certifications
• Knowledgeable in general bookkeeping and banking
• Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel)
• Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
