Short Description:
Ensure 24X7 operations and maintenance coverage and adequate availability and performance of all mission critical, enterprise database systems and applications as per industry best practices and applicable company policies.
Responsibilities:
Key Result Areas:
1. Implement database development and maintenance activities and carry out ERP systems
maintenance, patching and upgrades as per business needs and in compliance with IT
standards and procedures.
2. Investigate and resolve all problems related to databases, data warehouses, data interface
tools and related systems. Attend to all assigned business requests promptly and resolve
application systems issues in a timely manner to assist uninterrupted business operations.
3. Coordinate with other IT & Digital staff for the evaluation and setup of database systems
management architecture and configuration to ensure the implementation of the optimal
solutions.
4. Perform Database clones from productions to test environments. Create plans, test files, and
scripts for database replication and testing.
5. Undertake database backup and restore to ensure corporate applications incorporate high
availability features and data is recovered and restored in case of disaster. Perform planned
and unplanned server failovers.
6. Perform and support activities related to database security, auditing, confidentiality in
coordination with concerned Information Security and relevant business staff.
7. Participate in the design, operation, and maintenance of interfaces between systems for
effective and efficient data exchange. Develop and implement data extraction procedures for
external systems required to sync with Bapco systems. Implement business rules via stored
procedures, middleware, or other technologies.
8. Analyse relevant systems statistics and report on all aspects of Database Management, such
as availability, performance, incidents, issues, and problems, as well as progress of
development tasks to Senior Database Specialist and Superintendent I & O.
9. Create supporting documentation for the systems maintained and supported. Document the
activities, processes, procedures, and changes implemented in Database and ERP systems
during normal operation and out of band support and maintenance for accurate traceability
and auditing.
Qualifications:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum seven (7) years of proven work experience in large organizations with four years
in development, operation, and maintenance of Database Management systems, in a business critical,
high-availability context.
• Extensive experience with Oracle & MS SQL Database Administration, Installation and
Upgrades; Scheme/Table (Data Model) Design and Development; Stored Procedure
Development & SQL Scripting; Performance Tuning & Capacity Monitoring; Data Security,
Backup & Recovery.
• Thorough knowledge of problem definition, fact finding, analysis techniques.
• Proficient in Database Management, ERP (especially Oracle E-Business Suite) and
UNIX/Linux based systems.
• Solid knowledge of Cloud and hybrid specific database solution architectures on Amazon AWS
and Microsoft Azure.
• Good planning & organization skills.
• Excellent command over spoken and written English.
