Under direct supervision, the Halliburton-KFUPM Research Assistant (RA) will be entry level for professional work, performs assignments to develop technical work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks. Limited exercise of judgement is required on details of work and preliminary selections and adaptations of alternatives. This classification is used for employees performing a designated function for an identified duration. The Halliburton-KFUPM Research Assistant (RA) will be given meaningful work assignments within Emulsion Breaking area as specialization and Flow Assurance in general. Halliburton-KFUPM Research Assistant (RA) will work 40 hours per week between Halliburton and KFUPM labs during the two years for the Master of Science degree or the four years of PhD Degree. Performs own work and provides assistance to others as directed. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Consequences of error are easily measured and can be confined. Must be eligible, apply and get admitted to KFUPM Graduate Studies on a full-time basis. Halliburton will also honor university program minimum enrollment requirements. Must maintain the scholastic performance established by KFUPM to remain active in the program and maintain good standing during their study. Must work full-time (40 hours per week) during the employment period. Must have graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry or related topic.
The joint Halliburton-CPG initiative on a strengthened focus on the fundamentals and applications of (d)emulsifiers has resulted in a call for joint HAL sponsored students to be a part of the research activities within that domain while at the same time pursuing graduate studies at KFUPM. The work will take place in the newly inaugurated petroleum engineering and geoscience technology center in Dhahran Techno Valley. The center resides right next to the Halliburton research center which will ensure strong synergies. The experimentation will involve regular analytical Tasks on state of the art chemistry instrumentation along with industry standard bottle testing studies to evaluate the performance of synthesized surfactants and surfactants that are isolated from crude. The role will focus on independently deriving structure-property relationships that will guide design principles and ultimately provide new routes to surfactants that performs. The Halliburton-KFUPM Research Assistant (RA) is expected to attend on the Job Filed Training and Halliburton Professional Training and Certification Requirement. Upon graduation, the Halliburton-KFUPM Research Assistant (RA) is targeted to be Halliburton SME in Emulsion Breaking.
